Rambling Introduction
This artifical language was designed to communicate simple commands of a nature
suited to that of some Multi-User-Dungeon-Users. I designed it with pen and paper
after being introduced to the idea of language design from
LangMaker- The previous version of this file was machine-created from the program.
Anyway, I started out with Langmaker to generate a few words for me, and after much
thought and consideration, I changed most of them to cut the Orkish alphabet down to a
mere 11 different letters. These letters are as follows:

The language was not originally designed to be spoken, it was merely intended to be used
as a sort of code that Orks could use (on whatever MUD it was; I don't remember) to warn
and advise eachother of what activites were asked for while using the public chat channel.
It was also effective in annoying the other players.
However, some users may want to have a set of pronounciations for the letters, and,
therefore, I am forced to produce some here:
The Orkish Alphabet - Version 3 - Pronounciations
- a - a as in hAt
- e - eh as in hIt
- hk - ch as in baCH or loCH (ness monster) * -- guttural.
- hk - *or pronounce as in HaCK
- i - ee as in hEAt
- ls - ls as in LISS
- n - kn as in KNeel
- r - r as in Real
- t - t as in haT
- u - oo as in mOOd
- v - v as in Vale
- z - z as in Zoo
Grammar
Orkish operates without any grammar.
Here are legal formats for an Utterance:
- Modifier-ProperName-Modifier verb Modifier-target_of_verb-Modifier
- Translate the English sentence into Orkish.
- Connect all adjectives to whomever they belong to with dashes.
Here are some example translations.
- Young[new] Ted, give me my sword back[again].
- nils-Ted irn-ihkls ihkls-hkat-nahki.
- new-Ted give-I I-sword-again.
Another.
- [You,] Please kill me again.
- vuhk vahk-hkils-nahki ihkls.
- You please-kill-again I.
For some reason I am not quite satisfied with this last one. Read at your own risk.

This language was developed using LangMaker.
You can download your own free copy.This is really cool, useful, but buggy
(at least under Win98). Good to get started with.
